As well as our guide to creating e-girl hair, we thought we’d inspire you with some of our favourite TikTok-inspired alt makeup looks! It’s all about embracing a hybrid rocker, punk and indie style.

1. The Dark Lipstick Queen

When it comes to alt makeup, thick eyeliner and bold, dark lips are royalty. Inspired by @lora_arellano’s stellar look, here’s how to do this alt makeup look to help you flaunt these alt girl staples.

Alt Makeup Tutorial – Dark Lips

Apply your base makeup (primer, foundation, concealer, you know the drill).
Create full, fluffy brows with the Makeup Obsession Fibre Brow Gel by sweeping the spoolie over your brows to shape, fill and set.
Recreate this incredible alt eyeshadow look using the I Heart Revolution Cranberries & Chocolate Palette. Use a pencil brush to apply Nude to the entire eyelid. Next, use a flat eyeshadow brush to pat Auburn onto the middle of the lid, before buffing Enticing into the crease using a tapered blending brush. Blend all 3 colors in to create a graded effect. Repeat along the lower lash line. Finish with a touch of Heavenly in the inner corner of the eye.

Apply your base makeup (primer, foundation, concealer, the usual routine).

Apply your base makeup (primer, concealer, foundation, your usual routine).
Use the Revolution Forever Flawless Optimum Shadow Palette for your alt eyeshadow look. Sweep Prime over the whole lid up to the brow bone using an eye base brush. Next, blend Onyx across the lid, before using a flat eyeshadow brush to pat Warrior onto the middle of the lid. Using a fluffy brush, blend Onyx and Warrior together to create a smokey effect. Repeat along the lower lash line.
For your alt eyeliner look, line the upper lash line using the thick end of the Revolution Awesome Double Flick Eyeliner. Use the thin end to draw two little hearts under the center of the eyes.

Alt Makeup Tutorial – Edgy Alternative Makeup

Apply your base makeup (primer, concealer, foundation, you know the drill).
For the ultimate alt eyeliner look, line the eyes with the XX XXact Eye Liner Pencil in Chalk. Draw a line from the inner corner of the eye to the bridge of the nose, and from the outer corner of the eye towards the tip of the brow. Travelling along the brow bone, connect the two furthest points of each line, creating an arch around the eye. Fill in the arch up to the crease.
Using the Revolution Renaissance Flick, create a winged eye. Draw a line from the inner corner of the eye to the tip of the wing along the brow bone. This should cover most of the white eyeliner.
Use the Makeup Obsession Black Is The New Black Eyeshadow Palette to create a smokey eye. Use a pencil brush to apply Cryptic to the whole lid, then use a tapered blending brush to buff Smoked into the crease. Blend the hue outwards towards the centre of the lid. Apply Black between the crease and the black eyeliner using a flat eyeshadow brush. Next, gently buff the Smokey and Black shades together using the blending brush to create a fade-in effect.
